Mimosa hostilis root bark
Mimosa hostilis root is the root of the leguminous plant Mimosa.
Mimosa hostilis root has the functions of relieving cough and phlegm, promoting dampness and collaterals, harmonizing stomach and eliminating accumulation.
Mimosa hostilis root mainly treats chronic bronchitis, rheumatic pain, chronic gastritis and indigestion in children.
Pharmacological action
Cough and expectorant effect: root irrigated mice have obvious antitussive effects (ammonia spray method).
2. Effect on smooth muscle: Root decoction has obvious anti-acetylcholine effect on isolated rabbit ileum, and extract No. 1 (alkaloid) has also significant effect.
3. Antimicrobial effect: Roots have strong antimicrobial effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus albicans, Catarrhal diplococcus and Escherichia coli in vitro, but weak effect on Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus A and B and influenza bacilli. Total alkaloids and root decoction had significant inhibitory effects on influenza A virus and rhinovirus 17.
